MAN'S GIN Popmatters Feature and Reviews

Popmatters have just published an excellent MAN'S GIN feature.  Go HERE to read this interview with Erik Wunder to get a glimpse within the psyche of MAN'S GIN and where Wunder even gives a COBALT update near the end of the piece.

The first MAN'S GIN review has surfaced in the form of an awesome writeup from The Obelisk.  Go HERE to read this in-depth and very detailed review of "Smiling Dogs".

Popdose just published their review HERE (just scroll down a bit to read it).

You can read a review just published on Thatshowkidsdie.com HERE

Long Island Press reviews the album HERE

More reviews will be added to this space and updates as they slowly surface.

COFFINWORM LP's and Other New Items In Stock

Just a quick update on some sporadic new items we just got in stock for our specialized curated distro.  First is the awesome vinyl version of the COFFINWORM "When All Became None" debut which crushes on vinyl.  We're not shipping this to Europe because it exceeds the 500g mark (even though it's a single LP, the gatefold jacket is of an extremely heavy stock) and we don't feel like spending $35 mailing a single LP overseas.  Canada Post can of course go fuck themselves.

Also we got some cool CD titles in the form of the brilliant CHRISTIAN MISTRESS "Agony & Opium" debut which is a perfect example on what good heavy metal released today should sound like.  Total NWOBHM feel along with a Di'anno era Iron Maiden vibe, all fronted by a unique female vocalist.  As well we've gotten some copies of the excellent JEX THOTH "Witness" EP, the latest album from the mighty UK doom band THE WOUNDED KINGS called "The Shadow Over Atlantis" which is like a mix of Candlemass and Disembowelment.  And finally, we couldn't help but re-stock the last EVOKEN album "A Caress Of The Void".   Expect some news surrounding EVOKEN and Profound Lore to surface in the near future.

BLOOD REVOLT Reviews

A few more reviews of the BLOOD REVOLT album from people who understand such an entity.  Read the excellent Metal Army review of "Indoctrine" HERE.  The Metal Psalter review can be read HERE.  And just posted, Hellbound.ca has posted their review of "Indoctrine" HERE and Spinal Tapdance posted their epic gargantuan review of "Indoctrine" HERE.

Metal Army have just published an interview with vocalist A. A. Nemtheanga HERE.

BLOOD REVOLT Interview vs. BLOOD REVOLT Decibel Review

That's How Kids Die have now published an intriguing interrogation held with BLOOD REVOLT vocalist A. A. Nemtheanga and guitarist Chris Ross.  To get into the minds a bit more of those responsible for creating what many are calling one of the most challenging extreme metal albums of the year, you can get answers by reading the interview HERE.

And in less flattering BLOOD REVOLT news, the new issue of Decibel magazine (Refused on the cover) wasn't too friendly in their review of the album (reviewed by a first-timer who seems to not have even heard of Primordial, nevermind having even heard of Axis Of Advance or Revenge!).  So if you want a good laugh at how an uninformed "journalist" tackles such a release as the BLOOD REVOLT debut, read this hilarious attempt at reviewing such a release HERE

Now for the record, we have no problems with negative or indifferent reviews of our releases (sure some people have told us they could never get into bands like YAKUZA, and we're obviously not gonna hold that against them), and it seems on occasion that our releases and bands carry such a polarity (i.e. PORTAL, WOLD etc.) where there's no in-between.  And that's how we like it and that we are proud that the label has a reputation of releasing music that's challenging and polarizing at the same time.  So yeah, we do expect of course for many people to not understand and dislike bands like PORTAL, WOLD, KRALLICE (and even BLOOD REVOLT for that matter) etc.  But in this instance with this BLOOD REVOLT review, I guess it comes across as a bit embarrassing and calling a band like BLOOD REVOLT a parody is kinda insulting.

Just sayin' of course...

DISPIRIT Items In Stock

Bay Area black metal phenomenon Dispirit have been lurking for about ten or so years (regardless on how many people think they are a new band), but John Gossard (Asunder, Weakling, The Gault) has finally unearthed this black metal venture that has been in the works for the past decade.  Dispirit essentially comes across almost like a black metal Gault, with that wall of sound drenched in unforgiving harsh reverb and whatnot, while at the same time, Dispirit have developed a unique and very distinct sound all unto their own which makes them one of the most important and prominent U.S. black metal bands going today that have already gained quite a reputation from their recent local live shows (preforming with such acts as PORTAL, ALTAR OF PLAGUES, and the bands that comprise the mighty Black Twilight Circle) Nonetheless, we brought in some Dispirit items for sale:

CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK, WE'RE GONNA TRY TO GERT MORE IN
