After the trials and tribulations that befell YOB mainman Mike Scheidt surrounding the band he formed after the initial dissimulation of YOB and after the fallout from the lawsuit thrown upon him, it was inevitable that Scheidt decided to once again begin jamming with YOB drummer Travis Foster and resurrect the doom metal machine with a vengeance.

Considered to be one of the most respected American doom metal bands to arise within the last ten years, YOB have quite the impressive repertoire at their disposal gaining quite the reputation with their signature and distinct style of epic elongated crushing atmospheric sludge doom that have gained them the respect and recognition as one of America’s premiere doom metal bands.

With the addition of new bass player Aaron Reiseberg joining Scheidt and Foster to round up the reformed YOB line-up, “The Great Cessation” is a time-stretching unearthly slab of monolithic doom metal art; an album in which Scheidt lays claim as the best, heaviest, and darkest YOB album to date.  Produced by renowned knob pusher Sanford Parker (PELICAN, MINSK, NACHTMYSTIUM, THE GATES OF SLUMBER etc.) in the band’s hometown of Eugene, Oregon, “The Great Cessation” sees YOB in 2009 much more epic, heavier, darker, and undeniably louder than ever.  Ultimately, “The Great Cessation” will unveil itself as the doom metal monument of 2009.
