Caїna, the sole vision of one of the UK’s most promising young musicians, namely Andrew Curtis-Brignell...

And at only 20 years old, has already made a bit of a name for himself in underground circles. Already having released two demo tapes on France’s Drakkar Productions, and the official Caina debut album, “Some People Fall”, on U.S. based label God Is Myth, Brignell\s musical sense to create unconventional avant-garde black metal clearly proved that this very young musician was onto something quite distinct and unique.
Influenced by the likes of some of the most polarizing underground black metal artists (i.e. Xasthur, Leviathan, Burzum, Judas Iscariot etc.) along with heavily being influenced by the likes of such luminaries as The Red House Painters, the 4AD roster, Swans, The Cure, Sigur Ros, and Death In June, it is through Brignell’s musical appreciation, and his strong and profound beliefs in Satanic dogma, that makes Caїna the unique devastating beast that harbors a strong artistic aesthetic that will eventually make Brignell one of the UK’s most recognized musicians within the underground.
Nevertheless, “Mourner” sees Brignell take his aesthetic prowess to another plateau, one in which some parts are even untreaded for the young prodigee. More experimental, at times harsher and more surreal, weirder, more challenging, as well as being more elegant, ambient, and dreamier than its predecessor, “Mourner” combines the fine elements of experimental raw black metal, 4AD post-rock, drone, neo-folk, shoegaze, and acoustic sing-along all in its diabolical canvas. It’s like if Mark Kozelek were to make some sort of bizarre raw experimental black metal album, “Mourner” would probably be it.
With “Mourner”, Caїna are destined to become even more of a recognizable force within the underground, easily one of the most promising luminaries to surface from the UK to come forth with a solitary vision of torment, despair, and welcoming desolation. Caїna Profound Lore Discography
